Jo Swinson MP launches 2009 Christmas card competition

4.53.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 23rd Oct 2009

Jo Swinson MP is inviting youngsters in East Dunbartonshire to design her annual Christmas card.

Every year Jo Swinson holds a competition for school pupils in East Dunbartonshire to submit designs and poems for her Christmas card. The theme of this year’s competition is “Christmas and the Environment”, and the winning design will be printed on Jo’s 2009 Christmas cards, with the poem printed inside. The cards will be sent to 1,800 groups and individuals across East Dunbartonshire.

Prizes will be donated by Milngavie Book Shop, with the winners in the design and poetry categories each taking home a £20 book token, and two runners up in each category receiving a £10 book token. The deadline for entries is Tuesday 3rd November.

Commenting, Jo Swinson said:

“I look forward to seeing what East Dunbartonshire’s talented young people will come up with on the theme of ‘Christmas and the Environment’. With the global conference on climate change happening in Copenhagen in December, the theme is particularly topical. I have received some really excellent artwork and poetry for my Christmas card competitions for the past few years and I am sure the standard this year will be just as high.”

Notes:

Entries for the competition should be sent to Jo’s office at 4 Springfield House, Emerson Road, Bishopbriggs, G64 1QE.
