Smith rallies MSPs against £1 drop-off charge

5.16.48pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 27th Jul 2010

Margaret Smith, Liberal Democrat MSP for Edinburgh West has lodged a motion at the Scottish Parliament raising concerns about the proposed £1 drop-off charge to be introduced at Edinburgh Airport in October.

Commenting Smith said:

“As I have said many times, this is an unfair and unnecessary charge.

“I launched the online petition against the charge last week and I have now lodged a motion in Parliament raising my concerns about the charge and its implications, especially on older or disabled passengers.

“I have asked that the motion be considered for a Members’ Business debate. I will continue to do all I can to fight the introduction of this kiss and fly tax.”
